Laughter: A Natural Way to Feel Better
They say laughter is healing, and I truly believe that. It’s the kind of laughter that makes you double over and brings tears to your eyes. Life comes with serious jobs and responsibilities, but what would it be like without laughter? I can’t imagine.

Laughter has always been part of my life. As a child, my parents constantly joked with each other, my brother, and me. Even in serious moments, we found a way to view situations through a comedic lens. That subtle humor brings out the sweetest feelings.
I deeply miss my father, who always turned our problems into laughter. From a young age, I learned to face difficulties by seeing them through a comic perspective, and this approach still helps me. I don’t get stuck in extreme sadness. It’s not that I don’t feel sad; I just experience it differently.
Laughter Follows Me, and I Love It
One thing I adore about myself is my knack for finding humor in any situation. Some days feel like a never-ending stand-up comedy show.
To give you some context, my last job was at a leading television station in Bulgaria, which I absolutely love. My role involved extensive communication with clients—both potential and current advertisers. Each year, the media hosts a grand sales party, a major event.
As the date approached, I decided to use my connection with a new client I had just signed and invite him as a gesture of our partnership. I sent the invitation via Viber, a common tool for us.

Here’s what I wrote: “Hi, Peter (I changed the name for my blog purposes),
I hope this message finds you well. I’m thrilled to invite you to our grand sex party (I accidentally typed “sex” instead of “sales”). Then I added: “It’s one of the biggest events of the year. You’ll meet many interesting people, exchange contacts, and explore different collaborations. Feel free to bring a guest if you’d like. I’ll be glad to see you there! Cheers, Vesela.”
O, yeah, I invited my new client at The Most Grand “Sex Party” instead of “Sells Party” – life is fun!
That little slip turned into a viral phrase at the office—“The Grand Sex Party!” When the client asked me what a “Sex Party” really meant, I suddenly realized my mistake. Luckily, he has a great sense of humor. Since then, we’ve laughed about it while keeping our professional relationship intact.
Laughter Energizes Me, and I Love It
I don’t know if you’ve ever found yourself in fits of hysterical laughter unexpectedly, but I definitely have! Once, I had to share an elevator with four men in suits at a bank. You know how they have signs stating the maximum number of people allowed? Well, this one said four, but we were five.

One guy read the sign and said, “This elevator is for four people, and there are five of us!” They chuckled briefly while I stood quietly. For some reason, it took a moment for that information to sink in. When the laughter faded, I suddenly burst into loud, uncontrollable laughter at how ridiculous the situation was.
I still can’t figure out why I laughed so much. Maybe it was their awkward humor, but no one else got it. I must have looked a bit strange, laughing by myself in an elevator with four suited men. Thank goodness banks in Bulgaria aren’t very tall!
I really wonder what those guys were thinking about me – the strange girl laghing like braniac five seconds after their “joke”!
In My House, Laughter Is Sacred
I live with an eleven-year-old—my child. Amid the usual school-related squabbles, we always turn everything into laughter. At the start of last school year, we received the weekly schedule for the kids electronically.

It had five columns and five rows, which I mistakenly thought represented the days of the week arranged vertically. After a month, the teacher emailed me that my child kept forgetting a textbook. As a responsible parent, I sternly talked to her about being organized. A week later, I got the same message again.
I decided to pack her bag myself to set an example. Another week passed, and I still received the same message. I stood there, perplexed by the schedule, even copying it into Excel to make sense of it. Finally, I called another mom from the class and discovered I had to read the schedule horizontally, not vertically!

Checkmate—and plenty of laughs after two months of using the wrong textbooks. I can’t tell you how often I reminded my daughter to read carefully and check what goes in her bag, only for her to look at my confused schedule!
Next time please give me instruction with the file, so I can live calm motherhood life!
About Dad and Laughter
I lost my father two years ago, and I still can’t believe it. I rarely cry, but I often think about him and even talk to him. I miss his unique spirit—he was a rebel who loved life.

Recently, while visiting my mom, we went through a box of jewelry. Since she’s been alone, she keeps busy to fill the void. As I rifled through the box, I found a gold wedding band and thought, “Dad’s ring!” Mom, who struggles to see, noticed and said, “That’s your dad’s ring.” I squeezed it, tears rolling down my face—it felt good to cry. After a minute, I left the ring in the box.
Then Mom exclaimed, “Oh, that’s your brother’s ring!” (My brother is divorced, and Mom keeps his wedding band.) In that moment, I imagined Dad laughing and saying, “Come on, Ves, at least you could have found my ring! What are you crying about? You both are incredibly silly!”
That thought made me burst into laughter. I shared my vision with Mom, and we both couldn’t stop laughing for at least five minutes. It was such a silly yet heartwarming moment, just like how I often face life’s challenges. Thank you, Daddy!
Again I just couldn’t cry for my Daddy! I cried over my brother wedding ring! Daddy, you must be proud of me!
I Don’t Know How It Happens, but Laughter Is Always Here with Me
I remember when I got my driver’s license, and my dad let me take the car out during the day. Back then, Bulgaria had about ten car brands, and most models looked identical. Our car was a 1994 Ford Fiesta—a real hit in red.

I drove to the store and, after shopping, headed back, spotting another car just like ours in the parking lot. I thought it was my dad’s, but when I tried my key, it wouldn’t fit. I dropped my bags and circled the car, trying the other door. That’s when a man’s voice called out, annoyed, “Hey, what are you doing with my car?”
I realized I had been trying to enter a stranger’s vehicle that looked exactly like ours! I spent fifteen minutes confused and panicked. The owner was visibly frustrated, but I couldn’t stop laughing at the ridiculousness. Our car was only two spaces away, just as identical and unrecognizable!
Women choce their car by color, they say. Well, if you had choosen my color then Mr. we might have a problem!Don’t ask me for my car plate number

Laughter truly is health. Life can be much easier to digest if we laugh more. Laugh; it’s contagious! If you laugh, those you love will laugh with you.
